Is God Calling Me? Chapters 1-3

As a Christian, this book states what every believer asks themselves, which is if God is calling me. The first chapter just really tries to define the concept of call. Iorg talks about all the different things it means, and what the word "call" as a Christian means. He calls it a "profound impression from God that establishes parameters for your life and can be altered only by a subsequent impression from God." That means that it is a way to tell you from God that you need to get involved in minstry and be a leader, and that it can only be changed when God tells you it should be changed again. You can either be have been called to a universal call, a global call, or a specific call. A universal call is one that is just everywhere. It talks about how when you become a Christian, you are called to absolutely change who you were before. Your attitude, your life, and everything that comes with that will contribute to your personal growth in the Lord. A global call is sort of like a thing you want to do in the Lord's name. For example, some people are called to preach, while others are called to a musical call. That's a gloval call, while specific calls mean exactly what it sounds like. Some people are called to be something specific. Some are called to be youth pastors, while others are called to be missionaries. As Christians, we should really just listen to the calls, pray about them, and follow them. Whenever we are given those calls however, there will be people that without noticing it, start leading you towards it. They start confirming what your call is, and how we should react to that. The author of the book, Jeff Iorg, talks about how when he was offered a job to be a president of a seminary, he didn't want to do it, but people in his life started to kind of confirm God's call in his life, and how that lead to him accepting the job. God leads us to the path He wants us to, while He uses people to kind of confirm that call and so we can really follow that call and be obedient to God.
