So, as I started to wrap up with book, I realized that Hampton was starting to really question what he was doing when he was around his buddy Blaine. Blaine demanded Hampton's loyalty, but that was only getting him to where Hampton was practically Blaine's back-up. After fighting with the Okalah boys in front of Sarah, he felt like she was trying to dodge him as much as possible, because of how he had behaved. He tried to make it right, but something else was going on with his mom, a new boyfriend. After his amazing game, he found his mom and her new boyfriend at the house, but something was different. His mom had made Hampton all of his favorite foods, and all three of them started to talk and to laugh like they hadn't in a long time. Now in the days following, Hampton would hear some things about his moms new boyfriend that got him wondering if he is who he reallys says he is. Now to clear both the Sarah situation and his moms new boyfriend's situation, he goes to the library. There he tries to clear up the first situation, but what happened next was nothing in mind. He argued with Sarah because she thought that the "loyalty" that Blaine talked about only got him into more trouble. He tries to clear it all up before his next game, so he goes to talk to his moms boyfriend. He learned that he was no traitor, but that he was standing up with his friend because they were all being unfair to him because he was black and he went out with a black girl. He also went to go talk to Sarah again, and invited her for a walk and to his next game. In his next game, he did amazing, but they lost. The University of Oklahoma were really looking at Hampton, and they liked what they saw. The book ended after the game in the woods, where Hampton and Sarah were walking through the woods in the morning, peacefully.
